The Yenching Academy is currently accepting applications for up to 125 postgraduate scholarships to study in China. Chinese, as well as international students and students from Hong Kong, Macao, and Taiwan, are eligible to apply for this scholarship programme.
The Academy offers a residential program aimed at creating a community of enthusiastic, globally oriented young innovators in the heart of China’s top university.

With its innovative, interdisciplinary curriculum and rigorously selected cohort of young scholars from around the world, the Yenching Academy is serving to enhance the educational excellence at Peking University.
Course Level: Scholarship is available to pursue postgraduate programme.
Study Subject: Scholarship is awarded to learn any of the courses offered by the university.
Scholarship Award: The Yenching Academy provides a generous postgraduate scholarship that covers tuition fees, a travel stipend for one round-trip journey between each
Scholar’s base city and Beijing, accommodations, and living costs on Peking University’s campus.
Number of Scholarships: The Yenching Academy annually enrolls approximately 125 new students from both China and abroad, to study, live, and learn together.
Eligibility: Applicants should have:
• Minimum of a Bachelor’s degree in any field, awarded no later than August 31 of the year in which they wish to enroll;
• An outstanding academic record;
• Strong interest in interdisciplinary study of China;
• A record of extracurricular achievement, community engagement and social responsibility;
• Leadership potential;
Successful applicants will demonstrate how the Yenching Academy program is relevant and valuable for their career plans.
Preference is given to candidates age 25 or younger as of August 31 of the year they wish to enroll. For students from countries with mandatory military service, the age preference is 27 years old or younger.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirements: Applicants must have Graduate from a Mainland Chinese university in 2018 (any major).
English Language Requirements: English proficiency test score (IELTS Type A/TOEFL/CET Band 4 and Band 6/TEM-4 and TEM-8).
How to Apply: Candidates may apply through Yenching Academy’s online application portal. Please note that those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan will also need to apply through the Peking University Graduate Admissions website.
Each applicant will create an account on the Yenching Academy admissions portal and submit the following materials in English:
• Completed online application form;
• Personal statement (750 words or less);
• Curriculum Vitae;
• Official transcript(s);*
• Diploma(s) or Certificate(s) of Enrollment;*
• Two letters of recommendation;
• International English proficiency test score (at least IELTS 7/TOEFL 100/Cambridge 180/CEFR C1).**
*If official university documents are in languages other than English or Chinese, both copies of the original documents and certified English translations must be uploaded. This requirement includes diplomas issued in Latin.
** Native English speakers and students/alumni of primarily English-taught degree programs are not required to provide English proficiency test scores.

Application Form
Application Deadline: International candidates and those from Hong Kong, Macao and Taiwan may begin applying August 15, 2017. There are two deadlines, associated with candidates’ universities:
• December 11, 2017: Universities in the United States and Canada;
• January 15, 2018: Universities in all other countries.
Applicants must submit all materials before 12:00 noon (Beijing time) on the relevant deadlines.
Note: All candidates should apply by the deadlines corresponding to their universities or alma maters. There may be rare exceptions; for example, an alumna of a U.S. university learns about our program after returning to her home country, and wishes to apply by the later deadline.
On Friday, October 6, the Chinese co-director of the Business Confucius Institute at the Athens University of Economics and Business, Professor Zu Lijun, with teachers and volunteer teachers from BCI, visited Syntagma Square in Athens, the most important square of the city and a major point of commercial, political and social life, to promote the open enrollment period.
The Peking University Scholarships (PKUS) are available for outstanding international students to study a B.A., M.A. and PhD degree for the academic year 2017-2018.
Founded in 1898, Peking University (PKU) is the first national university in Chinese modern history. The Peking University now consists of five faculties: Humanities, Social Sciences, Sciences, Medicine, and Information and Engineering.
Undergraduates, Master and Doctoral candidates are not required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam.
Course Level: Scholarships are available to study a B.A., M.A. and PhD degrees at Peking University. (Expect Professional Master Degree Programs; Joint Degree Programs and English-Instructed Programs)
Study Subject: Scholarships are awarded to study the subjects offered by the university.

College Admission Requirement
Entrance Requirement: Applicants must be non-Chinese citizens with good health, valid passport, above the age of 18, and should abide by Chinese law and the regulations of Peking University. They should also respect Chinese social customs.
Undergraduate program: Students are required to complete the curriculum within 4 to 6 years and fulfill the designated number of credits. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with a bachelor’s degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee.
Master’s Program: Students are required to complete the curriculum within 2-3 years, fulfil the designated number of credits, complete a master’s thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate along with the Master’s degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee. The application period is usually in the autumn semester of every year, while the faculty test takes place during the spring semester of the following year (to be notified by respective faculties).
Doctorate Program: Students are required to complete the curriculum within 4-6 years (under normal circumstances), fulfil the designated number of credits, conduct research, complete the doctoral thesis and defend it in front of a panel of experts. Successful graduates will receive a graduation certificate with the doctoral degree, according to the regulation of the Degree Committee.
English Language Requirement: Undergraduates, Master and Doctoral candidates are not required to take the Chinese language proficiency exam.
How to Apply: Applicants must apply online and submit in person or express following materials before the deadline:
• “Scholarship Application Form” with signature and one photograph on it·
• “Application Form for Chinese Government Scholarship” (in Chinese or English, original).
• A copy of the applicant’s highest academic degree. If the degree is not in Chinese or English, it must be translated to English. (Students that have yet to graduate can provide proof of their expected graduation date.)
